Canine c yes proto oncegene in genomic DNAs from a cDNA library derived from a healthy canine spleen using a human c yes 1 probe. This proto oncogene was well conserved in clinically normal dogs. The nucleotide and amino acid sequences revealed that the canine yes gene contained an open reading frame consisting of 539 amino acids. Its product had a molecular mass of 60368 Dalton and showed 95.9 percent and 90.4 percent homology with human and chick p61 c yse , respectively. Moreover, the product had src homology region (SH) 3, SH 2 and tyrosine kinase domains showing 98.8 percent and 96.0 percent homology with these of human being and chickens, respectively. These findings indicate that the products of the canine c yes gene maybe not with receptor type tyrosine kinase activity as is the case in human and chick p61 c yes .

In order to test the biological activity of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2(rhBMP 2),after injection of rhBMP 2 into the mouse muscles,the differentiation of mesenchymal cells and time course of bone formation was studied during the ectopic bone formation.The rhBMP 2 expressed by E.coli presented great bone-induction activity.1 day after implantation of rhBMP 2,the mesenchymal cells from muscular loose connective tissues and blood vessels concentrated in the implantation area.On day 5 typical cartilage tissue and chondrocytes appeared. Calcification emerged on day 7. Infantile hematopoietic cells became visible intramedullary on day 14, and a large number of reticular bone trabecula and osseous tissues formation and bone marrow cells emerged from bone trabecula gap by day 21￣30.The endochondral ossification was the main pattern of bone formation induced by rhBMP 2. Our results indicated that rhBMP 2 can be replaced in the repair of bone defect and treatment of fracture.

Spontaneous tumors in 2850 nude mice for heterotransplantation of human tumors were studied by means of routine pathological and immunohistochemical methods. There wre 4 cases of spontaneous mouse tumors observed in nude mice xenografted human giant cell carcinoma of lung, and the incidence of spontaneous tumors was 0.14%. Among 4 spontaneous tumors, 3 non-Hodgkin malignant lymphomas were of B cell linkage, involving lymph nodes, spleens, livers, kidneys and lungs. One anal cancer was highly differentiated squamous carcinoma with invading to rectum. There were no tumor taken in those four nude mice with spontaneous tumors. Viral infection may contribute to the occurrence of the malignant lymphomas.

An double antibody sandwich(DAS) enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) kit for the detection of canine parvovirus(CPV) in dog feces was developed using CPV polyclonal antibodies and CPV monoclonal antibodies. 87samples were tested, and the results were visually determined without special instrumentation within 30 minutes. Compared with HA assay, the sensitivity of DAS-ELISA kit was 93.3%,the specificity was 100%,and the total coincident rate in both assays was 95.4%, Compared with ELISA kit made in USA,the sensitivity of DAS-ELISA kit was 100%, the specificity was 84.6%, and the total coincident rate in both assays was 95.0%, The higher sensitivity of the DAS-ELISA kit compared with ELISA kit of USA,and their ease of use, make it suitable for routine use in the clinical diagnosis of CPV infection in dogs.

The cation transport activity of the Rabbit erythrocyte sodium pump was studied by 86 R ubidium uptake method. We chose the experimental optimum conditions and measured the activity of erythrocyte sodium pump in 27 normal rabbits (0.54±0.01 mmol/L RBC/h). The inhibitory activity of rhubarb on the rabbit erythrocyte sodium pump in vitro was also observed. Our studies Suggested that there is possible role of the abnormality of the sodium pump activity in the pathophysiology of cellular thermogenesis.

By making a comparison between the two kinds of diet, we find that expanded diets contain less bacteria and more vitamins than the traditional baking mouse diets after they are manufactured. In animal test, the two kinds of diet have the same feeding effects when they are fed to growing and reproductive mice. So we think expanded diets are more suitable diets to laboratory mice than the traditional baking ores.

Since there was no moderate scale production for the specific pathogen free(SPF)and clean convertional animals(CCV) for the requirement of various laboratories till 1986 inour country, a research a plan was worked out for installing a production line carrying on mass production of qualified SPF and CCV animals as soon as possible. The main scheme adopted at that time was to integrate the skills at home with those abroad but starting forward by putting the reliance on our indigenous technique. We had remodeled the facilities required and fabricated the isolators as well as the clean breeding hoods instead of the equipment originally used for the open rearing in order to breed the qualified animals. The measures made the program a great progress and success, and the amimals bred had been approved by the Committee for medical experimental animals control in Beijing. In conclusion, the remodeled area and facilities were qualified for the standard of the living environment required for the breeding of clean conventional animals. The requirements were as following; (1)the temperature inside the breeding hoods, rearing rooms, and corridors should be kept constantly between23.5℃ to28.0℃, not over 29.2℃. (2) should the air pressure be kept constantly inside the breeding hood and reduced progressively in the rearing room even lower in the corridor in order to form a gradient change of the air pressure.(3)the bacteria appearance rate inside the breeding hood should be 0/m 2.(4)noise allowance was less than 56dB. The SPFand CCV animals were provided through this moderate scale production program included BALB/c/ola/ILAS/CTL, C 57 BL/6J/ola/ILAS/CIL, DBA/2N/ILAS/CIL, T739/CIL/, BALB/cnu. All these animals were approved by the medical experimental animals control department accompanied with the qualification certificates. These SPF and CCV animals had met the needs of various laboratories of Chinese Academy of Medical sciences and had been provided for 20 and even more laboratories distributing in more than 10 provinces. This was the 1st attempt carried out in this country and it seems still meaningful practically even under the current situation. \ \

Investigation of Pasteurella Pneumotropica Infection in Clean

12 strains of Pasteurella Pneumotropica were isolated from 15 mice with conjunctivitis and pneumonia. Furtherly, Pasteurella Pneumotropica strains were isolated from trachea of 85 mice (10 strains: BALB/c, BALB/c nu +, AMMS/1, AMMS/5, AMMS/13, CBA, LECB, Scid, C 57 BL/6J, KM).The results showed that the infective rate of CBA and AMMS/13 were 25.0% ,BALB/c and AMMS/1 strains were 12.5%, and the infective rate of other strains were negative.
