Abstract: Abstract：The rapid development of economy and science in China，not only has provided the material bases，but presents the new challenge to the development of laboratory animal science．In the last few years，many high—level laboratory animal facilities have been built up in some institutions and universities，and the management levels were also enhanced correspondingly．This review introduces the principle and rationale of health monitoring of rodent and rabbit colonies in animal experimental units in FELASA and American institutions，which is worthy of being studied for our practitioners．

摘要： 实验动物是科学研究的基础支撑条件之一。我国科学研究的迅猛发展对实验动物学科提出了全新的要求。 经济的快速增长也为提高实验动物科学水平提供了物质基础。近几年来，全国许多研究机构和大学相继建起了水 平一流的实验动物设施，管理水平也相应提高。我们也应该注意到西方国家实验动物科学开展早，动物福利观念 深入人心，对动物设施的管理有相对成熟的理论体系。由于经济基础、历史文化宗教等方面的不同，与西方国家相 比，我国实验动物科学发展具有自己鲜明的特色，在交流、借鉴中发展是落实科学发展观的体现。本文对欧洲实验 动物科学协会联合会(FELASA)和美国实验动物研究使用机构建立的啮齿类和家兔健康监测程序的原则进行综 述，特别是他们在处理“理想化”与“现实性”、严格的质量控制与资源节约之间的矛盾中所采取的综合平衡之道， 值得我们研究和借鉴。
