First Publication of Popular Science Book The Wonders of Laboratory Animals
• # Popular Science Book *Wonders of Laboratory Animals* Published for the First Time
  In July 2014, *Wonders of Laboratory Animals*, the first popular science book focusing on laboratory animals, was officially released. Compiled by experts organized by the Beijing Laboratory Animal Science Society, the book is chief-edited by Researcher Rong Ruizhang.
  
  With plain language and vivid illustrations, the book unfolds across seven chapters including the story of the famous lab mouse "Little White". It reveals the mysteries of laboratory animals, helping the general public get acquainted with them and appreciate their value.
  
  This publication marks a new attempt to publicize China’s achievements in the legalized administration, quality standardization and technical standardization of laboratory animals. It guides the public to view laboratory animals and animal experiments from a scientific perspective, demonstrates the benefits brought by laboratory animal science to humanity, promotes the development of this discipline, disseminates norms on laboratory animal welfare and ethics, and fosters a social atmosphere advocating scientific spirit. Meanwhile, it is of great practical significance for popularizing scientific knowledge, advocating care for animals and lives, and advancing human civilization.
