• Publication Ethics Statement of Laboratory Animal Science

  To uphold the bottom line of academic integrity, regulate academic publishing in the field of laboratory animals, and safeguard the academic quality and credibility of the journal, this Statement is formulated in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations, industrial ethical norms and international publishing ethics guidelines. This Statement applies to editors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, authors and relevant staff involved in the full workflow of manuscript submission, peer review, editing and publication of this journal, and is subject to supervision from all sectors of society.

  I. Ethical Norms for the Editorial Team

  1. Conduct peer reviews fairly and impartially, judging manuscripts solely based on academic value, and eliminate prejudices arising from non-academic factors such as identity and geographic origin.
  2. Keep strict confidentiality of manuscript content, author information and peer review records, and refrain from improperly exploiting manuscripts for personal gain.
  3. Voluntarily recuse themselves in case of conflicts of interest, refrain from interfering with independent peer review, and strictly comply with standardized manuscript processing procedures.
  4. Rigorously control academic quality, thoroughly screen for academic misconduct, promptly correct identified problems, and retract papers in accordance with regulations when necessary.

  II. Ethical Norms for Editorial Board Members

  1. Participate in the journal’s academic decision-making in an objective and impartial manner to protect the journal’s academic reputation.
  2. Voluntarily report and recuse themselves from matters involving conflicts of interest, strictly observe confidentiality obligations, and avoid seeking improper benefits by virtue of their positions.
  3. Fulfill duties including peer review and manuscript solicitation on schedule, and firmly resist all forms of academic misconduct.

  III. Ethical Norms for Peer Reviewers

  1. Only accept review assignments matching their expertise and with sufficient time available; do not entrust review work to others, and decline assignments promptly when conflicts of interest exist.
  2. Deliver objective review comments, reject personal bias and malicious suppression of research, and strictly abide by manuscript confidentiality requirements.
  3. Submit review results within the specified time limit, and report suspected academic misconduct to the editorial department in a timely manner.

  IV. Ethical Norms for Authors

  1. Guarantee the originality and authenticity of manuscripts, and eliminate academic misconduct including plagiarism, data fabrication, simultaneous multiple submissions, and false authorship.
  2. Standardize author attribution: only personnel making substantial contributions may be listed as authors, and the corresponding author shall coordinate all relevant matters throughout the publication process.
  3. Disclose funding support truthfully; manuscripts involving laboratory animal research must provide valid ethical approval certificates.
  4. Cooperate actively with revision requests during peer review, take the initiative to contact the editorial department to correct any flaws found in manuscripts, and bear corresponding academic accountability.

  V. Measures for Handling Academic Misconduct

  This journal adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward academic misconduct. Verified violations will be handled according to the severity of circumstances:
  • Manuscripts with violations identified during peer review shall be rejected directly;
  • Retraction or correction statements will be issued for published papers involving misconduct, and notifications will be sent to the authors’ affiliated institutions;
  • Authors with severe violations will be blacklisted from submitting manuscripts to the journal;
  • Violating editors, editorial board members and peer reviewers will be dismissed immediately;
  • Parties involved in illegal acts shall be held legally accountable in accordance with the law.

  VI. Channels for Supervision and Complaints

  Valid evidence must be provided for reports of misconduct. The journal will strictly protect the confidentiality of informants and conduct independent investigations and handling in accordance with regulations.
