The Effects of Bedding Materials on Body Weight,Blood Biochemical Parameters, Organ Weights and Coefficients of Mice and Rats

Abstract: Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of bedding materials from poplar,corn and pine on the body weight,the blood biochemical parameters,the organ weights and coefficients of mice and rats. Methods The 60KM mice were divided into three groups randomly,20 in every group,half male and half female,used the bedding materials from poplar,corn and pine respectively. The 60 Wistar rats were divided into three groups randomly,20 in every group,half male and half female,using bedding materials from poplar,corn and pine respectively. The body weight were Weighed weekly,the blood biochemical parameters,including ALT,TP,ALP,LDH,T-SOD,ADH,were measured,a nd the organ weight were weighed after 4 weeks,then organ coefficients were calculated. Results 1. The body weight: Comparing with animals used poplar bedding,the weight of the male mice used pine bedding is reduced,P < 0. 001. Comparing with animals used corn bedding,the weight of the male rats used pine bedding is reduced from third week,P < 0. 05. 2. The blood biochemical parameters: mice: Comparing with the mice used poplar bedding,ALT of male mice used corn bedding is raised very significantly,P < 0. 001; LDH of female mice used pine bedding is reduced significantly,P < 0. 01,ADH of male mice used corn and pine bedding is reduced significantly,P < 0. 001,P < 0. 05. rats: Comparing with the rats used poplar bedding,ADH of male rats used pine bedding is raised significantly,P < 0. 01。3. Organ weights: Mice: comparing with the mice used poplar bedding,the liver and brain weight of male mice used pine bedding is reduced significantly,P < 0. 01,P < 0. 05; the kidney weight of male mice used pine bedding is raised,P < 0. 05,and the adrenal gland weight is reduced,P < 0. 05,and the testiculus weight is raised,P < 0. 05. Rats: comparing with the rats used poplar and pine beddings,the liver weights of rats used corn beddings are raised significantly respectively; P < 0. 001,P < 0. 05; comparing with the rats used poplar beddings,t he kidney and brain weights of rats used pine beddings are raised significantly respectively, P < 0. 01,P < 0. 01; comparing with the rats used corn and poplar beddings,the prostate weights of rats used pine beddings are raised significantly,P < 0. 01. 4. Organ coefficients: Mice: Comparing with the mice used poplar bedding,the liver and brain coefficient of male mice used pine bedding is reduced significantly,P < 0. 01,P < 0. 05,and the kidney and testiculus coefficient of male mice used corn and pine bedding is raised significantly,P < 0. 01. Rats: Comparing with the rats used poplar bedding,t he liver coefficient of male rats used pine bedding are raised significantly,P < 0. 001. Conclusion The poplar material is the ideal beddings for mice and rats,and the corn maybe a backup bedding material,but the pine bedding is prudential usage as mice and rat bedding.

摘要: 摘要: 目的观察杨木、玉米芯、松木三种垫料物质对大、小鼠体质量、血生化、脏器及脏器系数的影响。方法昆 明小鼠60 只,雌雄各半,随机分为3 组,每组20 只,分别使用杨木、玉米芯、松木垫料。Wistar 大鼠60 只,雌雄各 半,随机分为三组,每组20 只。分别使用杨木、玉米芯、松木垫料。动物饲养4 周后取血测定血生化指标ALT、TP、 ALP、LDH 、T-SOD、ADH,处死测定脏器重量计算脏器系数。结果1) 体质量结果: 与杨木组比较,松木组雄性小鼠 的体质量有显著性的降低,P < 0. 001。与玉米芯组比较,松木组雄性大鼠自第三周开始体质量降低,P < 0. 05。 2) 血生化结果: 小鼠: 与杨木组比较,玉米芯组雄性谷丙转氨酶有极显著性升高,P < 0. 001; 松木组雌性乳酸脱氢酶 有显著性降低,P < 0. 01; 松木组和玉米芯组雌性小鼠活力乙醇脱氢酶有显著性降低,P < 0. 001,P < 0. 05。大鼠: 松 木组雄性乙醇脱氢酶与杨木组比较有显著性升高,P < 0. 01。3) 脏器重量结果: 小鼠: 与杨木组比较,松木组雄性肝 有极显著性降低,P < 0. 01,脑有显著性降低,P < 0. 05,肾有显著性升高,P < 0. 05; 玉米芯组雄性动物肾有显著性升 高,P < 0. 05,肾上腺有显著性降低,P < 0. 05,睾丸有显著性升高,P < 0. 05。大鼠: 玉米芯组肝脏与杨木组和松木组 比较有显著性升高P < 0. 001,P < 0. 05; 松木组肾脏和脑与杨木组比较有极显著性升高,P < 0. 01,P < 0. 01; 松木组 前列腺与玉米芯组比较有显著性升高,P < 0. 05,与杨木组比较有极显著性升高,P < 0. 01。4) 脏器系数结果: 小鼠: 与杨木组比较,松木组雄性肝脏、脑系数有显著性降低,P < 0. 01,P < 0. 05,松木组和玉米芯组雌性肾脏、雄性睾丸 系数有显著性升高,P < 0. 01。大鼠: 玉米芯组雄性肝脏与杨木组比较有极显著性增大,P < 0. 001。结论杨木垫 料是较好的小鼠实验动物垫料,玉米芯垫料可作为备选产品,松木垫料应慎用。
