Abstract: With much attention paid to the laboratory animal welfare by the public and business,the role and importance of laboratory animal veterinarian become more prominent than ever.What kind of function and role should be assigned to the veterinarians?In this review,the authors answered the question in two aspects: function in organization and role in study.Veterinarian function and role include: ensuring all the used animals to meet the quality standards and requirements of experiments;training of the staffs;advising for occupational health;working as IACUC member;and ensuring high standards of veterinary care and welfare to support the safety evaluation team to collect reliable data.

摘要： 随着公众和使用实验动物的机构对实验动物伦理福利关注度的提升,实验动物兽医在药物安全评价实验室中的作用的重要性逐渐突显出来。实验动物兽医究竟应该在药物安全评价中承担什么样的职能与角色呢?本文从机构职能设置和实验开展这两个方面展开叙述回答了这一问题。完整的兽医职能首要是保证所使用的动物质量符合标准,并能达到实验的要求;对全体员工进行专业培训和指导;为机构的员工职业健康计划出谋划策;作为机构IACUC成员参与其运转;药物安全评价实验中的兽医,必须保证提供高标准的兽医护理和福利,以支持安全性评价团队收集到可靠的数据。
