Abstract: Amblyopia is a common eye disease in children，which is a great problem for children’s life. It is important to establish an ideal animal model to study amblyopia. At present，the main method of making animal model of amblyopia are：suture of eyelid，cutting of rectus muscle，feeding in dark environment，and retinal detachment. This article reviewes the establishment of models，including animals， method, characteristics and discussed the frequently used models. This review will provide help for researchers in research design of animal models of amblyopia．
