Abstract: Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of Vitamin A on the islet fibrosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus ( T2DM) animal model of GK ( Goto-Kakizaki) rat． Method After administration of Vitamin A for 2 weeks; and the changes of islet fibrotic area were recorded． 5 μm serial paraffin sections of 4 months old GK rat pancreas were obtained and stained by H＆E and Masson staining． Ｒesult Masson staining showed that the area of islet fibrosis staining in GK rats were significantly decreased after administration of Vitamin A compared with control group ( 44. 46 ± 16. 98 vs． 60. 22 ± 31. 47 μm2 ) ． Conclusion Our study indicated that Vitamin A could significantly decrease islet fibrosis in GK rat．
