Abstract: Objectives: To investigate the effects of single pancreatic juice reflux on esophageal mucosa，and to establish rat models of reflux esophagitis．Methods:We produced esophagitis in two experimental groups of Sprague-Dawley rats: Group A, gastrectomy and end-to-side esophagojejunostomy and bile-duct-jejunostomy; Group B, control group. The esophageal samples were taken at different time after operation and studied．Results:Most of the rats in reflux group displayed evidence of reflux esophagitis，which was more severe in lower part of esophagus than in upper part，and more severe with postoperation time．The main histologic changes were inflammation, erosion，ulcer and epithelial cell hyperplasia．Esophageal mucosa injury was most severe in A group，then in B group．Conclustions:These results suggest that models of single pancreatic juice reflux esophagitis be successfully made．The pancreatic juice can injury esophageal mucosa seriously．It may play an important role in the pathogenesis of GERD and its complications．
